Leading Effective Foundations in Complex, Changing Times

Effective foundation philanthropy has always been difficult, but it’s even tougher when the context changes rapidly. The questions are many: What will it take to be most effective? What are grantees looking for from their funders as they seek to achieve shared goals? How are foundations working to maximize their impact? What might they do better? How are approaches, for example in the area of policy advocacy, changing in response to new contexts and norms? Will foundations be under new scrutiny, and how will they respond? What are the timeless principles of effectiveness that don’t change even when contexts change?

This interactive session will draw on new CEP research, including a survey of foundation CEOs to be conducted early in 2017 and a major study on program officers, offering the latest insights on the state of foundation philanthropy.
