Funders and grantees aspire to make long-term and sustained positive impact for the clients and communities we serve. But that’s not always how our funding is set up. Systems are often oriented around funding activities and outputs, rather than the results we ultimately seek. Reorienting our system around outcomes and results can radically improve how effectively we address social challenges, but requires a new social contract between funders and grantees. This session offers practical insights from pioneering foundation and nonprofit leaders about the capabilities, culture, and systems required to pull off this approach. This session will also preview a national knowledge campaign on outcomes orientation that Nonprofit Finance Fund and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco will launch this summer.
