Getting Evaluation Right

Evaluation fuels learning and improvement that leads to better results. It allows foundations to understand the effectiveness of what they’re doing and what they’re funding. But it’s incredibly difficult to get right and foundations often under-invest in evaluation. Benchmarking Foundation Evaluation Practices by CEP and the Center for Evaluation Innovation reveals the range of choices foundations have made about evaluation as well as some of the challenges foundation evaluators experience, raising questions about how foundations could best structure and support this crucial function.
