BREAKOUT III:
Getting Strategy Right

A backlash against “strategic philanthropy” has renewed the debate about what it takes to do strategy well in philanthropy. This session will explore that question, delving into what makes strategy in philanthropy both distinctly challenging and yet essential to impact.  Speakers will discuss what they see as important and often time missing components of strategy and the processes used to develop it.   Participants will reflect on what has worked when strategy has been successful for foundations, seeking to learn from the positive examples in our midst.
